yes; i am an atheist. and im sure all the religious people out there are "oh, no another one is going to hell!" sure thats your opinion. religion is just an opinion. everyone has their own thoughts and own ideas about how the universe and world began; how humans evolved or came to be here; and where we go when we die. religion was made up by man to explain things they didnt understand. but thats just my opinion. example? the greek gods. they fully believed in the gods and they were the ones who gave them life. today; few if any; people belive in them anymore. why? cause we proved them to be false. i was agnostic for 3 years before i became atheist. there is no proof of any god(s) exsiting. there is also no disproof; but im sure science has more proof than a book written by men thousands of years ago. just like today; people lie. so who says they didnt just make this up so people would listen to them and follow them? religion just sounds like it was made up if you listen to it. this ruler over-all spirit thing just made up the universe cause he felt like it? what was before that? who or what made this spirit up? sure religion teaches some good values; but you can have good values without believing there is a god(s) watching over you every second of life. i am completely straight edge. which means no drugs; no alcohal; no smoking; none of that stuff. i chose not to do any of that because i know it would hurt me in the long run, not because some god said so. ok now im rambling about that... anyway my point is religion is an opinion. form your own opinion off of facts and what you believe; not what some person tells you or just cause your friends think something else.

Oh, I totally agree with you. Because, you know, it only makes sense that Earth is at exactly the point essential for life, not one inch too close or too far, and that we all evolved off the backs of crystals and were able to function for the billion, billion, billion, billion, million, trillion tries it took for the cell to develop a tail and all that.
It's a good thing we somehow stopped evolving too, because macroevolution requires things to get better and better, and if mankind were any better, we might actually end up nearing to perfection. Well Heaven (or, you know, whatever) forbid there being any kind of structure to us.
I hope you never become a scientist or anything, because we just might lose another athiest to the idea of Creationism! Gack! And please don't go see Ben Stein's Expelled, because it will expose you to the truth that scientists are told to continuously remind themselves there is no God, even though their evidence contradicts them.
You go, girl!
hi, You can leave and escape God all you want, but he always there for you when your life is a mess and you hit rock bottom God's there to puck up your life.

There he goes again........ignore him, he does that alot. I like to se me as an atheist-ish person, because, I dont really like to venture anywhere near religion, because, with politics interfering these days, its just too hard to touch. Go on with your atheismz or whatever.
well put. im religious (in the sense that i believe in god) but i don't practice much. the thing that bugs me about religion is faith, which is basically blindly accepting something without question. ive always questioned and i try to come to the most reasonable answer. and like tehausum said, religion in america today is nothing but a ploy used by polititions to manipulate the masses, especially on the right. its more of a god contest than a political debate with the conservatives.
heres an interesting bit of information most people dont know: the theory of evolution and darwinism is widely accepted amoung many as the final nail in the coffin for religion, it explains how everything came to be. the thing is that the theory of evolution makes sense in micro-evolution (for example: a species of bacteria developing an immunity to anti-biotics) but it doesn't make sense in macro-evolution (a terodactyle evolving into modern birds). there is a HUGE gap in evidence for the stages of evolution that leads to what we are today. in fact archeologists have dug up species that seem to come out of nowhere (meaning that they just pop up in the time frame and that they can't find evidence of its evolutionary ancestors.)
yeah, i could go on and on about religion but this isnt MY blog its YOUR blog. reading is power!
